Wright’s # 1 is methyl alcohol, also called methanol or wood alcohol, that is dyed blue with a trace amount of crystal violet. This product is intended to be used as a fixative for wright’s dip stat stain and the 2 oz. size is packaged in a plastic container that doubles as a stain jar.
